Santa Rita Cactus S

Opuntia Santa Rita also known as Santa Rita Cactus or Santa Rita Prickly Pear Cactus is native to Arizona and Northern Mexico.

A very attractive plant with bluish purple pads  that become more pronounced when the plant is under stress from lack of water or cold weather. The Santa Rita Cactus does have spines so one must exercise care when working around or handling it. We have seen them attaine the height of 3 feet here in Santa Barbara CA. Propagation is from seed or cuttings , once established they are hardy to 0 degrees.

Brilliant yellow flowers followed by small redish purple fruit , make this Opuntia  an interesting focal point in any cactus collection.
