Agave tequilana also known as Tequila Agave or Weber Blue Agave is native to Jalisco province in Mexico.
This is the Agave that Tequila is made from. By Mexican law the agave spirit called Tequila can be made only from one particular type of agave, the blue agave (Agave Tequiliana ), and can be produced only in specifically designated geographic areas, primarily the state of Jalisco in west-central Mexico. Some other Agave’s are used to make Mascal or Pulque.
The Tequila Agave can be propagated from offsets at the base of the plant or bulbuls formed when it flowers.
A large spreading rosette that forms offsets freely. rather thin , leathery , gray green leaves up to 3 feet long and 3 inches wide with straight margins lined with tiny spines that are curved forward and a stout terminal spine.
A handsome house plant any where , and can be grown out of doors in mild wintered areas.
