Pisonia Umbellifera varitgata also known as Bird Catcher Tree is native to Northern Australia and many Polynesian Islands.
Pisonia Umbellifera verigata has beautiful variegation with various shades of white and green. It resembles a compact variegated rubber tree. Its leaves are 9 to 16 inches long and up to 6 inches wide , blooms appear in early summer , clusters of green flowers tinged with pink. The sticky fruits that follow are responsible for the common name Bird Catcher Tree , as insects and small birds can get stuck to these fruit. Can be grown indoors if given bright light but no direct sunlight, planted outdoors in an area that receives morning sun and afternoon shade, requires frequent irrigation , and protection from frost, hardy to 30 degrees F once established.
