Green Goddess Calla also known as Zantedeschia aethiopica Green Goddess.
A robust Calla variety, the flower bract ,( spath.) surround a central spike (spandex) that is tightly covered with tiny true flowers, the large bract 8 inches long is white at the base, and green toward the tip is carried on 2 to 3 feet long stems. The Large glossy green leaves 1 ½ feet long and 19 inches wide.
Callas tolerate many soils and the Green Goddess is no exception , it is nearly evergreen in mild wintered areas as we are here in Santa Barbara California, deciduous where winters are cold. Plant the Green Goddess Calla in sun to light shade, set rhizomes 4 inches deep and 2 feet apart , planted in containers set the rhizome 2 inches deep , one rhizome to a 6 inch diameter container , water sparingly until leaves appear , then water freely and feed weekly with a mild solution of a complete fertilizer. Reduce watering after the bloom to dry off plants , then withhold water entirely until new growth begins.
