Chocolate Bamboo L

Chocolate Bamboo also known as Fargesia fungosa is native to the Chinese side of the Himalayas.

A recent introduction the United States it is among the hardiest of the clumping bamboo’s ; 10 degrees  growth to 15 feet tall and 1 inch  diameter  chocolate red and shiny culms , the new shoots have a light pink bracts that add an ornamental feature to an already very attractive plant.  Its leaves are light green ½ inch wide by 3 to 5 inches long grow in small cluster at each node.

The Chocolate Bamboo is an ornamental bamboo that can be used as a screen or centerpiece, in China it is used for weaving.
