Bird of Paradise

Bird of Paradise also known as Strelitzia reginae a tropical evergreen perennial with extremely individual character. Spectacular flowers, startlingly like tropical birds, orange blue and white on long stiff stems bloom intermittently throughout the year, best in the cool seasons; The Bird of Paradise is the official city flower of Los Angeles CA.

The Strelitzia Reginae is at trunkless plant that grows 5 feet long with leathery, long stalked, blue green, 1 1/2 feet long leaves, 4 to 6 inches wide. Plant in full sun to partial shade, does well in containers and around pools. Benefits from frequent heavy feedings.
