Equesetum hyemale also known as Horsetail .
This bamboo like , rush like survivor of the dinosaur age , Carboniferous Age has slender, hollow 3 to 4 feet stems that are bright green and black and ash colored rings at each joint. Plant Horsetail with caution in either sun or shade , it has a habit of running and can be invasive , requires ample water to look its best. One can create a stunning look of Bamboo on a small scale when planted in container.
The stems of the Horsetail have a very fine abrasive quality and as such they have been used by pioneers as a pot scrubber and even more recently a violin maker told us that he uses it for the final sanding of his violins prior to applying stains and varnish.
We are offering a well established plant 10 to 12 inches tall.
