Agave salmiana ferox Medio Picta is a selection of Agave salmiana ferox that is native to Mexico where this speices is the principle agave used in the production of pulque an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey (agave) plant. It is traditional to central Mexico, where it has been produced for millennia.
The Agave salmiana ferox Medio Picta is an exceptional plant in that it has very distinct coloration in that the lighter color (yellow) is in the center of the broad leaf and the margins are dark blue- green other forms of Agave salmiana ferox Variegata have the yellow in the margins of the leaf with the leaf center being dark green.
A rare find will grow into a fine specimen 4 to 5 feet tall by 6 to 8 feet wide. Plant in full sun to light shade, in well drained soil, drought tolerant and hardy to around 15 degrees F once established.
Use as a focal point in succulent garden or even plant it in a very large container for a solitary display.
We are offering a well established pup taken from one of our parent plants , they are 8 to 12 inches tall.
