Euphorbia candelabrum  Ghost also known as White or Gray Ghost, Candelabra Spurge, Candelabra Cactus ,Candle stick tree is native to South Africa . Euphorbia candelabrum Ghost is a striking cultivar lacking most of the chlorophyll bearing tissues of its all green counterpart. Triangular stems grow in dense candelabra form with distinctive silhouette  and grow to over 10 feet tall.  A very good plant in dry indoor conditions, It can be grown  outdoors in warmer climates even in full sun .  The White Ghost is a relatively slow grower.  A beautiful plant that makes an incredible landscape plant.

Its leaves are very small that appear at the tips of the stems in summer, they are rudimentary , circular,   followed by  flowering and the seed pod that looks like a large marble. The Ghost is armed with tiny but very sharp spines that are paired , and widely divergent along the margins.

Hardy to the mid 30’s F. most grow in either pots or planted in a very protected location.

Euphorbia candelabrum Ghost  does need bright light to partial shade for best appearance. Responds well to warmth, with its active growth period in late spring and summer months. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch during active growing season.  In the winter months watering should be restricted  or suspended .  The most common failure in growing this plant is over watering, especially during the winter months. The soil or potting medium should be porous with adequate drainage such as a good cactus or succlant soil would be.

We are offering for sale a well established plant that is 10 to 14 inches tall.

We are open to the public by appointment only, please call us at (805) 969-9178 so we can explore dates and times for our get together. Weekdays between 2 pm and 6:30pm are best . GPS guidance will get you to our mailbox which is located approx. ¾ mi. from the Ranch on a single lane mountain road. We are not easy to find and generally discourage visitors who just want to look, I do this for several reasons , some of which are to limit the traffic on the private one lane road so my neighbors are not inconvenienced, not fill up our very limited parking spaces, and minimize the interruptions on our operations so I am able to have more time to spend with family.
